Subclinical ketosis risk prediction in dairy cows based on prepartum metabolic indices

چکیده

ABSTRACT Ketosis can seriously impair cow performance. This study detected changes in prepartum blood metabolic parameters for predicting postpartum ketosis occurrence dairy cows. Body condition score (BCS) was assessed before and after delivery. Blood samples of 63 cows were collected from 10 days calving to measure including β-hydroxybutyric acid (BHBA), non-esterified fatty (NEFA), glucose (GLU), total bilirubin (TBIL), direct (DBIL), indirect (IBIL), protein (TP), albumin (ALB), globulin (GLO), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate (AST). There a subclinical incidence 42.25%. Compared with prepartum, plasma, levels BHBA, AST, NEFA significantly increased postpartum, AST (R=0.57) (R=0.45) showed significant positive correlation postpartum. Plasma GLU level decreased negatively correlated (R=-0.21). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis revealed BSC < 2.88, plasma > 68.0 U/L, 3.97mmol/L, 0.27mmol/L, BHBA 0.43mmol/L, indicating high risk These be used as indicators predict the

Feeding a higher forage diet prepartum decreases incidences of subclinical ketosis in transition dairy cows.

A common feeding practice during the dry period is to switch dairy cows to an energy-dense diet 3 wk prepartum, but this practice may lead to the overconsumption of energy and increase the risk of metabolic disease postpartum. The aim of this trial was to compare the metabolic status of transition Holstein dairy cows fed a 77% forage diet (77F; NEl = 1.46 Mcal/kg; NDF = 41%) vs. those fed an 87...

Serum antioxidant capacity of dairy cows with subclinical ketosis.

Ketosis is a common metabolic disorder frequently observed in dairy cows during the early lactation period. The objective of this study was to examine the changes in β-hydroxybutyrate (BHBA), glucose, non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA), glutathion peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD), xanthine oxidase (XOD), malonaldehyde, catalase and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) concentrations...

Evaluation of an electronic cowside test to detect subclinical ketosis in dairy cows.

The objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic performance of an electronic beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHBA) hand-held meter (Precision Xtra) for use in dairy cattle. Specific objectives were to compare the electronic BHBA meter with serum BHBA concentrations determined photometrically and 2 commonly used chemical cowside tests (Ketostix, Ketolac) and to evaluate accuracy in a field stu...

1H NMR-based Plasma Metabolic Profiling of Dairy Cows with Type I and Type II Ketosis

This study identified differences in plasma metabolites among three groups of dairy cows: type I ketotic (K1), type II ketotic (K2), and healthy control cows (C). 50 cows with two or three parities were selected at 7–28 days postpartum. Cows were classified as type I ketotic (K1, 20 cows), type II ketotic (K2, 20 cows), or healthy control cows (C, 10 cows). Plasma metabolomic profiles were anal...
